Shenzhen skyline
Shenzhen's futuristic skyline - a city built in one generation

Shenzhen is the miracle city - a fishing village transformed into a 17-million-person tech metropolis in just 40 years. It's China's experiment with the future: cashless payments, autonomous vehicles, and urban planning at warp speed. Home to Huawei, Tencent, BYD, and DJI, Shenzhen produces most of the world's electronics. The city offers a glimpse of what's next.

KEY FACT: In 1980, Shenzhen was a fishing village of 30,000 people. Today it has 17+ million and more skyscrapers than New York. The city was China's first Special Economic Zone and averages age of residents is just 32 - China's youngest major city.
